Step One

Choose how you want your patrons to pay

Intellitix does not limit you to one medium of cashless payment. Decide how your patrons will pay: using RFID wristbands or badges, QR codes on smartphones, credit cards, and/or a combination.

Step Two

Use hardware you already own, or get affordable rentals

Have nothing more than the smartphone in your hand? You can still run a cashless event. Intellitix works out-of-the-box on tablets and smartphones, as well as payment terminals.

Step Three

Patrons use event tokens or link their credit or debit card

Intellitix runs either closed-loop or open-loop cashless payments. In simplified terms, that means you get to choose between 1) patrons using funds that they have put into their account (via credit or debit card) to draw from or 2) linking their credit card or debit card to their account and each transaction goes to your card. The cashless Event POS can run in any mode.

How do the fees work?

Intellitix applies a fee on all payments that are processed on our system, starting at 2.9%. This includes all sales made by vendors at the event such as food, beverage, merchandise, or anything else. This also applies to any ticket sales if and only if Intellitix is also being used to sell tickets (whether those happen on site through a physical box office, or online). If you are using someone else for ticketing and access control, we do not double-charge you for the ticket price.

Event organizers can choose to pass on the fee to the event patrons at the point of ticket purchase. In order to do this, an event organizer must estimate an average patron's spend-per-head in addition to the ticket price (e.g.: 50$), and then include % fee as a cashless system charge at the point of ticket purchase.

Event organizers should be aware that they may also be subject to fees charged by their merchant bank, over which Intellitix has no control. If you are not sure who your merchant bank is, this would typically be the financial institution that would provide you with payment terminals, and where all payments from customers end up first. Each vendor and event organizer should consult with their bank to learn what exact fees may apply.

Do you provide wristbands or hardware?

What are "closed-loop" vs. "open-loop" cashless payments?

In a closed-loop system, event attendees top up their balance ahead of time or at designated event locations, and any purchases within the event stay internal to the event alone. In other words, the actual purchase and communication with the bank occurs only when someone is topping up their balance. . One advantage of our system running in closed-loop is that in the event that the network goes down, transactions can still take place within the event's grounds.

An open-loop system functions as any cash transaction in the real world. Patrons link their credit card to their Intellitix account before an event, and pay directly from their credit card whenever they purchase something at the event. There is no need for patrons to top up their accounts because the transaction is direct — however each transaction will depend on having a reliable network in place, as a call needs to be made to the bank in each instance.

Can I have multiple vendors use this at my event?

What type of network is needed for my event?

We recommend that you provide a private wifi network for all access control and cashless devices in order for everything to run smoothly. If you are renting hardware from Intellitx, we will provide all network requirements. Patrons do not need to have wifi access as long as a stable cell network is available in the area when you choose a mobile only solution. If Patrons have an RFID wristband you have one less thing to worry about as it does not require the mobile network.

Do you offer on-site support?

Yes. Intellitix provides both remote support for those who are deploying the solution as a self-serve option, as well as offer optional on-site support and technical set up staff for events that need it
