Middle East Film and Comic Con Gets Social with RFID Tech

Experiential technology on April 9-11, 2015 at the Dubai World Trade Centre

Over 35,000 comic-loving fans are set to attend and will each receive an RFID-enabled wristband, which – with a simple shazzam – can be linked to their social media accounts, such as Facebook. Aiming to encourage guests to experience as much of the expo as possible, 13 ‘Live Click’ stations (or Live ‘Ka-Lick’ in comic book lingo!) will be positioned across the show.

Guests will swipe their wristbands when they enter a new area or when they complete a task, such as watching a movie at the movie station. Points are awarded for each station visited, with pow-tastic prizes at the end of each day, as well as the end of the event for the biggest fan with the highest score. Visitors who have linked their wristbands to their social media accounts can instantly share their experience with family and friends, extending Comic Con’s online reach and exposure.

The MEFCC is the only consumer event for fans of cult entertainment and popular culture in the Middle East. It brings together the industry best-of-the-best and encourages a new generation of artists, writers, directors and entrepreneurs within the field. This year, fans will have the chance to meet stars William Shatner, Gillian Anderson and Kelly Hu as well as graphic artists Andy Suriano, Jon Bolerjack, and Mahmud Asrar.
