Virgin Mobile Presents Squamish Valley Music Festival is excited to announce that its festival site will be going fully cashless for the first time, working in partnership with Canadian access control and cashless payment specialists, Intellitix.Produced by Live Nation Canada in partnership with Festival creators brand.LIVE Management Group, Virgin Mobile Presents Squamish Valley Music Festival takes place at the Logger Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields in Squamish, British Columbia, August 8- 10 2014.In its fifth year, the festival will be welcoming its most impressive line up to date with an amazing mix of top international artists and emerging local talent. Over 70 acts will be taking the stage including headliners Bruno Mars, Arcade Fire and EMINEM, who will be performing his only festival of the 2014 season.Expecting up to 35,000 people each day, every single visitor will be issued a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) wristband, which will be their sole method of access and payment across the festival site. Organisers have enlisted global RFID experts Intellitix, headquartered in Montreal, to deploy its trusted IntelliPay system, the world’s first fully-integrated RFID system that combines access control, cashless payment and social media integration.Paul Runnals, Executive Producer of the Festival and Vice-President of brand.LIVE says: “The RFID system will allow smoother, more efficient access at the gates and faster processing for all onsite transactions at beer gardens, food vendors and merchant sites. You can pay simply with a tap of the wrist. We’re very excited to be one of the first Canadian festivals to introduce a fully cashless environment, and we see this as the future of live events.”The wristbands have been sent via registered mail and festival goers will need to activate them online pre-event to take full advantage of the benefits.Intellitix CEO Serge Grimaux explains: “The wristbands can be Topped Up easily online before the festival and there will also be Top Up stations across the festival site should people wish to add more funds at any time using these counters instead of doing so via their smartphones. In addition to the faster transaction times, our IntelliPay system eradicates fraud and puts customers’ minds at rest that they don’t need to worry about carrying around large amounts of cash.”The IntelliPay system also allows for Auto-Top Up, where visitors can set their accounts to add more funds if their balance drops below a certain threshold. Remaining balances will be refunded post-event so guests never have to go through the hassle of waiting in lines and can spend more time enjoying the Festival. This year sees the Festival expand into the Centennial Fields for the first time, increasing its footprint from 32 acres to 81 acres and almost doubling its capacity.“As well as the obvious benefits of a fully cashless environment to both vendors and customers, IntelliPay will also facilitate smoother and faster access across all areas of the site, which was a vital consideration given the vast expansion this year,” says Runnals. “We’re looking forward to welcoming guests for the best Virgin Mobile Presents Squamish Valley Music Festival yet.”About brand.LIVEbrand.LIVE is one of Canada’s leading event production, sponsorship and management agencies with a diverse portfolio of extraordinary events.  Notable projects include: the 2005, 2009 and 2011 Grey Cup Festivals, The annual Canada Day Celebrations at Canada Place, Sarah McLachlan’s “Summer Sessions at Ambleside” and “Voices in the Park” fundraising Concerts, The Khatsahlano Music Festival, The “Whistler Presents” annual summer Concert Series, The BC Children’s Hospital Crystal Ball Gala as well as the annual Celebration of Light Fireworks Festival., recognized as the largest offshore fireworks competition in the world.
