RFID access control technology at Fantasy Football Fest. The inaugural event took place 18-19 August at the Atlanta City Convention Centre, staged by ReedPOP, the boutique pop culture-focused division of Reed Exhibitions. All of the thousands of ticket holders in attendance were issued with wristbands featuring an RFID chip that was used to validate their right of admission. To enter the exhibition, fans validated their one-day or weekend wristbands on one of the ten custom-built Intellitix entrance portals. With each entrance portal capable of processing 2,500 people per hour, while there may have been lines for autographs of NFL stars such as Michael Vick and NFL Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, there were never any to get in. “Secure and fast access control is the first step on a long road of new possibilities that RFID presents,” says Ross Hollman, Intellitix US CEO. “Whether it’s the potential for exhibitors to instantly connect and communicate with attendees, the huge marketing benefits from social media amplification or revenue generating cashless payment systems, this is the start of a new era in the exhibition and event market.” Lance Fensterman, Global Vice President of ReedPOP says: “As an organizer of very large scale events, the ability to move people in and out of the event easily, safely and securely is of utmost importance and Intellitix is the best solution for accomplishing that goal I’ve used.”]]>
